Infinity Ward have got a serious case to make if they are to persevere with thier IW.net matchmaking system that was recently announced by fourzerotwo, the community manager for the Call of Duty series.
An online petition has garnered over 130000 hits and is growing still! The petition is lobbying for dedicated servers to remain on the PC format.

I recently broke news on a PC community member’s podcast that Modern Warfare 2 would be introducing a completely new backend infastructure called IWNET that would allow matchmaking for multiplayer games on PC. The news, by default, means no more browsing through a Server List for a server with the settings / ping you want among other things, and sent shockwaves through the hardcore PC community, leading to many more questions than answers as to ‘HOW’ this would work, and if it would really be better for the PC community as a whole.
Questions, assumptions, and speculation I intend to dispel.

In what seems like the second-coming of the Battlefield 2 competitive scene, it was announced only in the last week or so the desire of the ESL administration to reintroduce a Premier League in which the best of the talent could settle old scores in new settings.
The league will be virtually identical to the Bundesliga of older days but will feature 3 leagues in the infantry section and 2 in the conquest with a promotion/relegation style system at the end of each season.
Perhaps even more of a shock to outsiders to the scene is the calibre of teams taking part in the event in preparation for Multiplay's i38 tournament and the release of Bad Company 2 in March 2010.

Well, the latest ClanBase Cup is almost over and yet again Haze are through to the finals of the 2nd Division. This time around they look to retain their title against The Renegades team "Old School".
With a lot of seasoned Czech and Slovak veterans in the team this match will be no walk in the park for Haze. After the heartbreak of losing to Unreal in the finals of the ESL cup Haze will be hungry to ovecome this and win this cup.
